With each new trip venturing to try something new, exploring Oklahoma has become one of my favorite pastimes over the years. This is one of the many reasons why I am so excited to be taking on the position of research editor at Oklahoma Today.
I’ve lived in Oklahoma all of my life, however I was never able to really appreciate everything the state offered until I was in college. I had an assignment in one of my classes to photograph and create a website for my hometown. I began to see where I grew up through a new lens. I saw the historical aspects, the different scenery offered throughout the city and its parks, and the beauty that only an Oklahoma sunset can bring to the horizon. I saw life in Oklahoma.

Since that assignment, I completed my degree in mass communication and attempted to follow my dreams into journalism. I originally wanted to get into news-writing or broadcasting, which I accomplished for a year working at a local newspaper, but I could never shake the feeling of wanting to do more. I ended up making the move from small-town Oklahoma to the metro and found my dream job where I can now travel, explore, and promote all of the amazing things Oklahoma has to offer. I learn something new about the state everyday.
Some of my favorite things to do in Oklahoma are:
• Watch the sunset or sunrise happen from a state park
• Hike in the Wichita Mountains
• Go fishing and/or kayaking at one of the many lakes
• Visit and support local coffee shops
• Visit new restaurants and try new foods
• Watch movies at the Warren Theatre or at a drive-in
Other little fun facts just about me include that I enjoy visiting zoos and aquariums and that I love all things mystery related: books, movies, games. I have acted in nine plays and one musical, and I hope to get back into acting one day as a hobby. I am obsessed with Harry Potter and the wizarding world. And just as every good Oklahoman has their own, my favorite Sonic drink is a cherry vanilla Coke.
