Oklahoma City’s Scissortail Park offers a jam-packed calendar of fun in the sun.

From the opening of Scissortail Park in 2020, the seventy-acre oasis instantly became one of Oklahoma City’s coolest hangout spots. Three years later, the park is packed with fun activities, events, and attractions that visitors can have a different experience just about every weekend. Here’s just a few of the current and upcoming goings-on to check out.

During the summer, shoppers don’t have to wait for the weekend to pick up fresh produce, locally raised meat, organic skin care, and more. The last Wednesday of each month, the Mid-Week Farmers Market is open and ready to provide shoppers with everything they need for a delicious week night supper and beyond. July 26, August 30, and September 27 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funded in part by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, Vamos a Pescar—or Let’s Go Fishing—offers families an opportunity to spend time together learning how to catch a meal as well as how to better care for Oklahoma’s waterways. July 29 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Whether it’s been a while since you’ve hit the rink or you’re a genuine rockin’ roller, the Sky Rink is a great place have a wheely fun time. And the eight-dollar admission includes quad skate rentals, so no need to bring your own. August 3-6, September 7-10, and October 5-8.

Voted the number one splash pad in America by USA Today, the Scissortail Sprayground is hugely popular among kids and kids at heart for a reason. This thrilling network of jets and fountains is one of the most thrilling ways to cool off in Oklahoma City. Open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Whether they want to try out the rough-and-tumble game themselves or just watch from the shade of the Sports Pavilion, sports fans will no doubt enjoy every second of OKC Rugby practices on the Love’s Travel Stops Great Lawn. Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Bacon cheese fries, Shaka Spark burgers with candied jalapeños, footlong Schwab corndogs, frozen custard, and many more delicious treats await diners at Spark. Open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

There’s something to see in every nook and cranny of Scissortail Park, and you can see it all without breaking a sweat thanks to the free Silver Flyers golf cart tours. These outings last approximately one hour and help make the park more accessible for all. Weather permitting, tours take place at Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. and must be booked online at scissortailpark.org/silverflyer.

As part of the Pollinator Pockets program, park staff planted a smorgasbord for local bees, butterflies, and other helpful critters. Visitors can see milkweed, coneflower, and other native blooms in several areas along with monarch mailboxes filled with educational materials.
