Oklahoma Rooms with A View

Sometimes the problem with sight-seeing is that those sights can be the time it takes to get to those sights in question. If views are your main concern, why not stay in a place where some of the best views are right out the window? Photo Editor Megan Rossman shows off how Oklahoma State Parks have some of the most scenic places to stay.

Lake Murray State Park’s lodge in Ardmore offers guests incredible balcony views of the water. With an onsite restaurant, splash pad, pool, and boat ramps, there’s not really any reason to leave this 12,500-acre slice of south central Oklahoma heaven. Check it out at TravelOK.com

Nestled in the mountains of southeastern Oklahoma, the cabins at Lake Wister State Park are cozy vantage points to take in sunrise views. Whether they’re hiking in the shade of the nearby Ouachita National Forest, fishing, swimming, or just cruising the lake, visitors will find plenty of ways to stay cool when they venture outdoors. The beach is steps outside the front door at the lakeside cabins at Quartz Mountain State Park near Altus. With covered patios, picnic tables, fire pits, and grills, it’s easy to feed the family while the kids take a dip in Lake Altus-Lugert. Too hot to cook? Grab pizza, burgers, and more at The Lookout Kitchen at the park’s lodge. Check it out at TravelOK.com

Lake Tenkiller is one of the state’s clearest and most pristine bodies of water, making it a popular location for scuba diving. But even if that’s not in the cards, guests can gaze out at the trees and deep blue waters from several of the cabins at Lake Tenkiller State Park in Vian. Numerous camping and RV sites also offer up-close encounters with this stunning northeastern oasis. Check it out at TravelOK.com

One of the best things about the recently renovated lodge at Beavers Bend State Park in Hochatown is that each room offers a direct view of Broken Bow Lake, so guests can sip their morning coffee and watch the sunrise before they hit the greens at Cedar Creek Golf Course, hop along a guided Segway tour, or check out some of the area’s awesome shopping and dining opportunities.
