Though it’s not a perfect judge of history, we often learn about what others deem important by the number of ways it is photographed or depicted. By that standard, one Osage Chief was extremely important, as he was said to be the most-photographed Native American leader. Of course, his actions backed up his prestige. Wah-she-hah, or “Star That Travels,” was known for his wise leadership in understanding the value of the oil under Osage land and how it could benefit the tribe. But he was known best by another name.
