We at Oklahoma Today are always telling you to get out and enjoy our state. And with good reason—we love this place. Oklahoma is a wonderland of learning, exploration, and enjoyment and it is our great pleasure to bring it to you.
That said, these are extraordinary times, and we must take extraordinary measures. In the wake of the novel coronavirus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests we all socially isolate and avoid gatherings of fifty or more people. Well, a lot of the events we send you to involve fifty or many, many more people.
In addition, many events are being canceled right now. Even as we’re putting together our next issue, we’re seeing more and more events being postponed, and we cannot guarantee they’ll be restored.
We’ve decided to pause the Weekly Events Calendar for the time being. It is the most responsible choice we can make in a difficult situation. We hope when the threat of pandemic passes, you will join us again in traveling and reveling in this wonderful state we call home.
In the meantime, we’ll be posting lots of our favorite stories from previous years right here and on social media. There are recipes to try, history to delve into, and trips to plan for when we’re on the other side of this stressful situation. Maybe we can use this time to relearn what makes Oklahoma a place we want to live and home we want to share.
Please stay safe,
The staff of Oklahoma Today
