A Joyful Noise
Sure, it’s fashionable to visit Chickasha for the science. Everyone’s doing it. But the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma would like to remind everyone that the arts are still pretty awesome. As part of the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series, the award-winning trio Harmonious Wail comes to campus with hot jazz and cool blues ready to rock audiences to their tailfeathers. March 10. Tickets, $10-$15. usao.edu
Fighting Words
Jim Thorpe Park in Yale hosts the twenty-fourth annual Battle of Round Mountain Reenactment this week. With reenactors portraying both Union and Confederate soldiers, visitors can watch history re-unfold before their eyes with a much better idea of who the ultimate winner was than those who were at the original event in 1861. Vendors will also be dressed for the occasion with tents to sell food and souvenirs. March 11-13. Tickets, $5-$7. facebook.com/BattleRM
Watch as classic cars, marching bands, and even a herd of longhorns grace the streets of Oklahoma City during the Stockyard City St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Moo-ve Along
Marching bands, classic cars, and Shriners are par for the course at most parades, but how about a herd of cattle? At the Stockyard City St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Oklahoma City, guests can gawk as the parade is led by the Slash-O-Ranch Longhorns, with bagpipes, Irish dancers, and more following after. When the parade is gone, there’s still plenty to do, including a kids’ activities area and family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day movies and cartoons playing at Rodeo Cinema. March 12. Admission, Free. stockyardscity.org
Walk to Remember
Few people know the history of Oklahoma like Jonita Mullins and she’s more than happy to share during her series of walking tours. Her Notable Women of Oklahoma Walking Tour begins near Gaddy Drug in Muskogee and includes an hour and a half of strolling through historic neighborhoods as she regales audiences with lesser-known tales of some of Oklahoma’s most influential women. March 12. Tickets, $10-$20. jonitamullins.weebly.com

Squatch Out!
The guest list for this year’s Oklahoma Bigfoot Symposium in Stilwell was always going to be packed, thanks to last year’s event being canceled for pandemic safety, but the organizers have really outdone themselves. Not only are cryptozoologists Ken Gerhard and Steven James set to give talks, but the cryptid of the hour—the usually anti-social Bigfoot—is listed as the third guest speaker. Attendees can also take part in night hikes and pick up Bigfoot gear from vendors during this two-day event. March 12-13. Tickets, $10 each day. okbigfootsymposium.com
