Each week, Oklahoma Today staffers comb through their calendars to find a handful of great events happening across the state. Get out! See Oklahoma! And be sure to let us know what you find, either here or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @oklahomatoday.

Art of Relaxation

Spring seems to be one of those times of year where everyone can collectively agree they’d like to go view some art while outdoors. The best such place to do that this week will be at the Stillwater Arts Festival outside the Prairie Arts Center. This Friday and Saturday guests can enjoy spectacular booths from local and regional art vendors, delicious culinary offerings, live music, and street performances. There will also be a children’s area, which sounds like a good place to send the little ones as you munch on a turkey leg.
April 18-19. Admission, free.

Rock Steady

We’ve heard The Righteous Gemstones is a big hit on television right now. We haven’t seen it, but we assume it has a lot to do with the gemstones, beads, jewelry, minerals, fossils, meteorites and more guests will find at the Tulsa Gem Faire this Friday and Saturday at Tulsa’s Ruffin Event Center. Beading and jewlery classes and demonstrations will be occurring on both days, but vendors from across the nation will be there for those who’d rather get their hands on something pre-made. As we assume is the catchphrase on that show we haven’t seen, “That’s righteous, dude!”
April 18-19. Admission, $7.

Hunt and Gather

Easter celebrations beg for a little outdoor activity, and when it comes to fun under the sun in the state of Oklahoma, state parks are the place to be. Head to the Foss State Park Annual Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, for fun and activities the day before Easter Sunday. The egg hunt for children ages twelve and younger is the main draw, but archery, disc golf, children's games, and other activities will keep families occupied the whole day. Bring a picnic or cookout supplies and make a day of it as you plot egg-scavenging strategies with the young ones.
April 19. Parking, $10

Day to Remember

On April 23, 1995, then-President Bill Clinton attended and spoke at the historic Time of Healing event in Oklahoma City, a symbol of resilience in the wake of the horrific bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building just four days earlier. Now three decades into the future, Clinton will once again be in Oklahoma City to deliver the keynote address during the Day of Remembrance at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. This non-ticketed event outside on the Memorial grounds will also feature a moment of silence and the reading of the names of all 168 people killed in the attack.

All Together Now

You might have heard recently about the casting of actors for the upcoming Sam Mendes series of biopics based on the four Beatles members. Those movies are not supposed to see a release until 2028, but why wait to start brushing up on your old favorites? A true Beatles live experience is no longer possible, but the next closest thing might be seeing Paperback Writer a tribute band to the iconic English rockers. The performance, presented by the Chisholm Trail Arts Council at The Simmons Center in Duncan, will see the look- and soundalikes performing hits from The Ed Sullivan Show all the way to “Let It Be.”
April 19. Tickets, $10-$25.
