Aluminum Affair
Step back in time and discover a unique chapter of American kitchen history at the Fred & Addie Drummond Home’s Hammered Aluminum Ware exhibit, running through April 30 in Hominy. Explore a charming collection of hammered aluminum pieces—from salad dishes and cookie trays to pitchers with matching tumblers—all crafted between the early 1900s and 1950s. During the metal shortages of World War I and II, this lightweight, affordable material became the go-to choice for homemakers hosting card games, church events, and coffee socials. See how this stylish yet practical tableware added a touch of elegance to everyday life. The exhibit is included with paid admission.
Through April 30. Admission, $4-$7, $18 for families up to six.

Trader Joes (and Janes)
Ready to trade your modern woes for some 1840s adventure? Head to Woolaroc in Bartlesville for the Spring Traders Encampment, a living history event with roughly 125 tents and tipis recreating the rugged life of frontier trappers and traders. Nestled by the scenic Crystal Lake, this annual throwback—formerly known as the Spring Mountain Man Encampment—welcomes you to wander through a historically accurate camp, chat with colorful characters from all over the U.S., watch live craft demos, and maybe even score some period wares. No time machine needed—just regular Woolaroc admission gets you in Thursday through Saturday. Suspend your disbelief, and maybe your Wi-Fi, and enjoy some good old-fashioned Western heritage.
April 10-12. Admission, $16-$18.

Making Bread
Get ready to knead some history into your weekend at Spring Bake Day, happening Saturday at the Fort Gibson Historic Site. Follow your nose to the mouthwatering aroma of freshly baked bread coming from the 1863 wood-fired oven. Loaves will be hot and ready starting at noon to satisfy your carb cravings. After grabbing your free bread (donations welcome), explore the historic site, which includes eighty acres, twenty-nine buildings, and even an 1870s hospital. Staff will reenact army life from the Civil War era, so step back in time and enjoy a slice of history at no extra charge—just regular admission, unless you're only after bread and a visit to the gift shop!
