Heart and Solstice
For a one-of-a-kind Christmas concert, look no further than Oklahoma City's First Unitarian Church, where the Winter Solstice Concert: An Evening of Music & Magic will include a variety of musical styles like chamber, harp, madrigal, as well as solos from local musicians and performances by the First Unitarian choir and bell choir. After the concert, take a peaceful walk through the luminaria labyrinth and enjoy a yule bonfire. December 20. Admission, free but donations are appreciated. 1uc.org

A Chill in the Air
Where there's light, there's darkness. So while Christmas might be the holliest and jolliest of times for many, there's plenty of macabre left over from Halloween to fuel the Creepy Christmas Light Tour in Tulsa. Tulsa Spirit Tours takes guests on a ninety-minute bus tour filled with spooky legends, bizarre folklore, and wild traditions relating to Christmas while taking a look at some of the most spectacular lights displays in the state. December 20-23. Tickets, $40. tulsaspirittour.com
Get Cracking
Purportedly a flop during its initial run, this ballet has since become a holiday must for dance lovers around the world. See it for yourself at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center when Tulsa Ballet Presents The Nutcracker. It's a feast for the eyes with lavish costumes and sets that perfectly frame the expert dancers of the Tulsa Ballet as they tell the story of the Nutcracker Prince, the Mouse King, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and more. December 22 & 23. Tickets, $27-$110. tulsaballet.org/performance/the-nutcracker

Winter Bliss
Start a new family holiday tradition at Robbers Cave State Park in Wilburton with the Christmas Eve Hayride. Beat back the winter cold with warm cookies, cocoa, and hot coffee at the lodge before hopping aboard scenic hayrides through the park. As the sun shrinks behind the horizon, warm up by the campfire with family and friends for a marshmallow roast. December 24. Admission, free. facebook.com

It's Lit
Take a trip through Christmas past without all the trouble of being visited by three ghosts at Kringle's Christmas Land in Jenks. Visitors can walk through a variety of animated holiday displays from the far-off 1940s all the way through the still-more-far-off-than-you-realize 1990s. Plus, catch a glimpse of Santa and his reindeer, among other critters, and bask in the artistry of this beloved annual tradition. Through December 31. Admission, free. facebook.com
