Walk the Solstice
Spiro’s Winter Solstice Walks at Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center promises to be a fun, family-friendly event for fans of the outdoors, history buffs, and everyone in between. The center is Oklahoma’s only prehistoric Native American archaeological site, and offers historical information about the Caddoan people and mile-long guided tours with an archaeologist, lasting around two hours. Bring your family or venture on your own and learn about the historic mounds lining up to the solstice and equinox sunsets. December 21. Admission, $7-$12. (918) 962-2062 or okhistory.org.
Pop Goes the Zoo
Not sure what to gift your loved ones this year? Visit Oklahoma City Zoo’s Pop-Up Shop at Penn Square Mall, where the zoo will offer gifts in the form of its ZOOfriends memberships, which include free admission to the zoo for a year. Also featured at the pop-up shop will be exclusive adventure packs, stocking stuffers like custom zoo ornaments, plush wildlife toys, and other gifts. December 21-24. Admission, Free. Rise and Shine
Stretch your morning out with Bartlesville’s Morning Stretch & Flow Yoga at Tower Center at Unity Square, a weekly early morning free yoga session on the outdoor stage. The hour-long session begins at 9:15 a.m., though if the temperature drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the class will go online via the Bartlesville Public Library's Facebook Live page. A Drive-In Christmas
Watch a holiday classic without leaving the comfort of your car at Tulsa’s A Christmas Carol at the Admiral Twin Drive-In courtesy of the American Theatre Company. Join in the holiday fun at 7 p.m. on December 22 and 23. Kids tickets are available for $10, seniors and student tickets for $12, and adult tickets for $15. December 22 and 23. Admission, $10-$15. ’Tis the Season
Not in the cooking mood this season? Try visiting Elk City’s Community Christmas Dinner at the Elk City Convention Center. The meal, catered by Poppy’s Pit & Grill, is free and open to all in the community, whether dining on-site or picking up the meal to-go. Free transportation to the convention center will also be provided. The event will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus, as well as Hope the Pony with her handler, Nancy, and the Magnolia Trailer serving hot chocolate and cookies. December 25. Admission, Free.
