Lights Up

Journey through an all-new light and music display at Oklahoma City’s Scissortail Park for an inclusive holiday adventure. Union Station Illumination begins nightly at 6 p.m. with an eclectic display of holiday music and lights throughout the park. The event runs until 11 p.m. and the park’s children’s playground will also be open daily. December 28-January 1. Admission, Free. (405) 445-7080 or scissortailpark.org.

Be There or Be Square

Take your family out on the town to usher in 2021 with Pawnee’s New Year’s Eve Ball Drop on the Square at Courthouse Square. The event features live music, fireworks, and the classic ball-drop at midnight. Don’t miss out on community fun while sipping on hot chocolate around the bonfire or eating black-eyed peas for luck. Hike to the New Year

If you feel nature calling to you, you might want to head to Pawhuska for the First Day Hike at Osage Hills State Park. State park staff will lead visitors on a 1-mile hike around the Creek Loop Trail beginning at midnight as part of America’s State Parks First Day Hikes initiative, taking place in all fifty states. The first tour will be followed by an additional tour at 1 p.m. Bring your leashed pets, family, a camera and binoculars, and dress for cold weather as you traverse on the trail fit for all ages and fitness levels. Circuit Riding

Usher in the new year with your favorite equestrian competition during Tulsa’s Holiday Winter Circuit at Tulsa Expo Square’s Built Ford Tough Livestock Complex. The event will feature junior, senior, and amateur trail riding, high point, and roping, as well as other events showcasing both horse and rider skills. Watch the graceful horses and talented riders as they display their skills at this four-day event starting at 8 a.m. daily. January 1-4. Admission, Free. (405) 743-0869 or tulsaholidaycircuit.com
