Blast from the Past

The best way to learn from history is to live it, which places a lot of burden on history students to acquire a working time machine. But if the flux capacitor is broken, why not head to Fort Towson Living History Education Day where reenactors at educational stations will lead participants through the fort’s history and give students a better idea what life was like in the 1800s. Also unlike a time machine, reservations are required before showing up. March 3. Admission, free but reservations are required. okhistory.org

Sweet Relief

Don’t let the passing of Valentine’s Day get you down. Yes, the savory months are coming, but there’s still something sweet on the horizon. Guests at the Mustang Chocolate Festival can satisfy their cravings as they sample treats from more than twenty vendors. It won’t all be truffles, though. Attendees can expect chocolate-covered jalapenos, bacon, and more. March 4. Admission, $10. facebook.com/MustangChocolate

Pop the Boot

Put some petrol in the lorry and make tracks to Oklahoma State Fair Park to see cars from around the world at the Oklahoma City International Auto Show. Inside the Bennett Event Center, guests can ooh and aah at new model debuts and concept cars, drool over hybrids, and stare longingly at classic autos from years past. There are also vendor booths and lots of kid-friendly activities. March 4-6. Tickets, $5-$10. okcautoshow.org

And Snoopy’s No Slouch, Either

Dive into the world of Charles Schulz when Pollard Theatre in Guthrie presents You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. This all-ages show has it all: a bald second grader, a very dirty child, that kid with the blanket, the coolest dog you’ll ever meet, an evil therapist, and Peppermint Patty. Plus lots of singing, dancing, and laughs. March 4-28. Tickets, $17-$35. thepollard.org

Reel Fun

Are the whippersnappers these days not whipping or snapping enough for your taste? Then load the kids in the car and head to Yukon for the annual Kid’s Trout Fish Out at Welch Park Pond. Maybe catching everyone’s dinner will get them off YouTube for a few minutes. Bring lawn chairs, fishing poles, and bait because the competition kicks off at 8 a.m. Adults are welcome, but they must be accompanied by a child. A fishing license is required for those age 16 and older.March 5. Admission, Free. yukonok.gov
