E For Effort
The rumble can be heard from all over—well, all over the Lazy E Arena at least. The 2024 WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo series comes to Guthrie with the Stampede at the E, bringing four days of high-octane rodeo action to the Territorial Capital. This will be the first WCRA event to stop in Guthrie in three years. The four-day event brings world-class athletes who will compete for $400,000 in total prize money, plus a million dollar cash bonus to the triple crown winner. January 3-6. Tickets, $10-$75. wcrarodeo.com
First Class
It’s a new year, so why not start a new creative hobby for your resolution? Sign up for the Navajo Weaving Class offered by Shepherd’s Cross in Claremore. They provide all the materials, guests just need to bring a loom and follow their expert instructions as they learn new weaving techniques, fiber arts history, and how to operate some practical technology. This is a three-day course with classes from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each day. January 4-6. Registration, $299. shepherdscross.com
Eyeing Eagles
Though there are fewer birds around in the winter months, this time period actually makes for some good birding due to a slower pace and sparse foliage. A great opportunity to see some winged wonders will be at the Arcadia Lake Eagle Watch at Arcadia Lake near Edmond. Dress warmly and bring some binoculars for this car-bound expedition. Start at the Arcadia Lake park office, and staff will be able to assist in spotting the eagles and other types of lake-dwelling fowl. January 5-7. Registration, $3. edmond.gov

Musical Magnificence
Intended for singers in grades three through twelve, the Tulsa Youth Opera is a tuition-free program of the Tulsa Opera that exposes children to an art form they otherwise might never experience. The group debuts Amahl & The Night Visitors, a production about a poor Bethlehem boy who encounters three mysterious traveling kings. See them at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center’s Liddy Doenges Theatre—there are three showtimes this weekend—and extend the Christmas joy into 2024. January 6-7. Tickets, $15. tulsaopera.com

They’ve Got Spirit
Both those who are already steeped in alternative forms of spirituality and those who are merely curious about what’s out there will find something of interest at the Oklahoma City Spirit Fair this Saturday and Sunday at the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City. From crystals and stones to incense and tarot decks, guests can leave with all the wares needed for enlightening insights. Get a Reiki reading or get an aura photo taken. January 6-7. Admission, $7-$8. spiritfair.com
