Each week, Oklahoma Today staffers comb through their calendars to find a handful of great events happening across the state. Get out! See Oklahoma! And be sure to let us know what you find either here or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @oklahomatoday.
Remembering MLK Jr.
Across the state this week, cities and towns will celebrate and remember the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose work for civil rights and equality truly changed the lives of millions of Americans and touched many more around the world. In Norman, the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Concert by the Norman Philharmonic Orchestra will include singing from area choirs at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. January 17. Tickets, $7-$15. normanphil.com

Not Cheese
If the moon hits your eye—like a pizza or any other shape—you should see a doctor. But as long as our celestial satellite stays put, why not enjoy it? That’s what the folks at Tulsa Botanic Garden have planned for their Full Moon Nature Hike. Stroll through a mile and a half of the Cross Timbers Nature trail before buying a warm drink or a s’mores kit and hanging out near the fire pits. January 17. Registration, $5-$15. tulsabotanic.org
Gaslight Theatre in Enid presents the funny and touching tale of a bridge game that lost its fourth in "No Exit."
Get Out
Saying goodbye is hard, especially after thirty years together. But let’s use Enid’s Gaslight Theatre’s production of Exit Laughing as a cautionary tale and refrain from stealing our friend’s ashes from the funeral home. There’s much more to learn and plenty not to emulate in this rollicking play that teaches the importance of living life to the fullest. January 21-29. Tickets, $8-$18. gaslighttheatre.org/exit-laughing
Big Wheels
War. Good God, y’all. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, unless you’re talking about Monster Truck Wars at the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center in Duncan, in which case it’s a pretty entertaining time for the whole family. With both matinee and evening shows, there will be room for everyone to watch Outlaw, El Oso Loco, Sheriff, and Carolina Crusher as they soar through the air in a way that trucks generally don’t. And kids ages three to nine can bring their own Power Wheels for the youth race. January 22. Tickets, $10-$30. monstertrucks.fun

Crash Into Me
Can we all agree that the best dogs are happy ones? A cuddly puppy who wants belly rubs and head pats is always better than one that keeps growling and baring its teeth. But there are exceptions, at least in Claremore, when the Mad Dog Demolition Derby comes to town. Watch drivers destroy their own cars and others in pursuit of prize money and a pretty good story to tell. January 22. Tickets, $14-$22. motorheadevents.com
