Each week, Oklahoma Today staffers comb through their calendars to find a handful of great events happening across the state. Get out! See Oklahoma! And be sure to let us know what you find, either here or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @oklahomatoday.
The annual First Walk event is a great chance to learn more about the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum.
A Walk to Remember
The holidays are a time for making memories, but it's also a good time to remember our history. Take a trip to the Oklahoma City National Memorial for the First Walk and explore the grounds with the help of Park Rangers who can provide context and understanding for those who are hearing the story for the first time. The outdoor walk is free, but those who want to go inside the Memorial Museum can purchase buy one, get one free admission. January 3. Outside admission, free. Inside admission, two for $15. memorialmuseum.com/events/first-walk
Hail to the King
One of the many bummers about being born after 1977 is that your chances of seeing Elvis Presley live plummeted sharply. Thankfully, folks like Travis LeDoyt have stepped up to fill that hound dog-shaped hole in our hearts. See Travis LeDoyt in concert at the Apache Casino Hotel in Lawton and you'll understand why he's hailed as the "World's Best Tribute to Young Elvis." January 6. Tickets, $25-$40. https://www.apachecasinohotel.com/event/travis-ledoyt/

Art Attack
The first Friday of any month is an exciting time, because it marks the end of the work week and the beginning of the weekend. But if you require more of a Friday than simply getting away from the office, visit the Tulsa Arts District for the First Friday Art Crawl. (Don't worry, we checked and it's okay to walk instead of crawling.) Pop into galleries, studios, and museums in Tulsa's artistic center and enjoy live music performances and fireworks while you're there. January 6. Admission, free. https://thetulsaartsdistrict.org/first-friday-art-crawl/
Spread Your Wings
The snow might have melted, but Oklahoma can still get pretty chilly, so we recommend bundling up and bringing a thermos of cocoa to the Arcadia Lake Eagle Watch in Edmond. Stop by the park office where you'll receive info on where the eagles are nesting and then head out with binoculars to set your eyes on the majestic symbol of our country in its natural habitat. January 6-8. Admission, $3 per car. http://www.arcadialakeok.com/

Om My
After all the stress of shopping and family and cooking and travel, some folks need to reset for 2023. Sequoyah State Park in Hulbert hosts the Winter Big Om Yoga Retreat for those who want to find peace in Oklahoma's natural splendor. Enjoy a weekend of yoga and workshops before heading back to civilization. January 6-8. Registration, $159-$259. https://www.bigomyogaretreat.com/
