Walk This Way
The problem with most museums is they like to close at night, depriving many of us the opportunity to enrich our lives with art. Which is one of many reasons art lovers will want to visit the Paseo First Friday Art Walk in Oklahoma City. With more than eighty artists represented and plenty of galleries, shops, and restaurants nearby, it’s an extremely fun and free way to kick off the New Year. January 7. Admission, Free. thepaseo.org
The Bald and the Beautiful
Let your spirit, or other forms of transportation, carry you to Arcadia Lake for the Annual Eagle Watch. As the name might have let on, this event takes place once a year as park officials welcome in visitors to put their peepers on some raptors. Head to the Arcadia Lake Park Office to get info on where you can spy some eagles. Be sure to dress warm and bring your binoculars. Maybe some cocoa, just to be safe. January 7-9. Admission, $3 per vehicle. (405) 216-7471 edmondok.com

Take Me to Church
What does Oklahoma sound like? Look no further than TravelOK’s own Oklahoma Soundscapes https://www.travelok.com/state-parks/soundscapes , free for download. But if you’re craving the Tulsa Sound, you’ll want to head to the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture’s Second Saturday Tour of The Church Studio. Leon Russell’s studio, renovated from a historic church, was the home office of Shelter Records. After many years, it has been restored and guests will be able to see the results. January 8. Tickets, $15-$20. tulsaarchitecture.org
Tickled Ivory
Though his name isn’t quite as well known to the general public as Beethoven’s or Mozart’s, it’s fair to say that among classical music fans, Sergei Rachmaninoff is considered one of the greats. At the Oklahoma City Philharmonic’s Rachmaninoff Festival, acclaimed pianist Natasha Paremski will play two pieces by her countryman; Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp minor, Op.1 and Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27. January 8. Tickets, $27-$94. okcphil.org
