Mother Road Dearest
Miami is pulling out all the stops, but not the stop signs, for the second annual Route 66 Heritage Festival. Red Dirt musician Kyle Park headlines a Friday night show and American Idol winner Laine Hardy plays Saturday. But there’s more than just great tunes. Enjoy the Car & Bike Show Saturday, plus food trucks, shopping, kids’ activities, a beer garden, and a corn hole tournament. And, keeping to the theme, there’s a free showing of the hit kids’ film Cars at the Coleman Theatre. July 29-30. Admission, Free. visitmiamiok.com
Calm Down
Sequoyah State Park in Hulbert already is one of the best places to rest and relax in the state, but spines will get downright droopy during the Big Om Yoga Retreat. Meet up with fellow yomies—yoga homies—and let your consciousness melt into the surrounding nature as you Tree Pose, Warrior Pose your way through workshops, and go Downward Dog before you bed down for the night. July 29-31. Registration, $149-$199. bigomyogaretreat.com

French Dressing
French composer Georges Bizet’s famed opera premiered in Paris on March 3, 1875, shocking and scandalizing the first audience. Well, times change, and Carmen is still a beloved opera, but not nearly as scandalous as it once was. Judge for yourself when Painted Sky Opera performs this tale of obsession and betrayal for one night only at the Rose State College Hudiburg Chevrolet Center. The opera is in French, but even those who don’t parler Français can enjoy it with English subtitles. July 30. Tickets, $23-$68. paintedskyopera.org/carmen
No Pectin Required
Summer is the season for peaches, blackberries, watermelons, and more delicious jam ingredients. But that’s not what’s happening in Ardmore this week. The ingredients for Central Park’s Summer Jam 2022 are food trucks, yard games, free hot dogs, and the music of the Red Clay Gypsies. Maybe that doesn’t go so well on toast, but it’s a homerun for folks looking to have a fun time in a great city. July 30. Admission, Free. facebook.com/ardmoreparksandrec

Going to the Chapel?
Not everyone dreams about their future wedding. Some people are too busy fighting aliens that look like their fifth grade teacher while riding dinosaurs with that guy from that movie they saw half of on an airplane six years ago. But dreamers, fifth grade teachers, that guy from that movie, and everyone else are welcome at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel for the Tulsa Wedding Show. Meet more than a hundred exhibitors to find the food, drink, flowers, music, decorations, and anything else one might need to make a fairy tale wedding come true. July 31. Admission, $15-$25. thetulsaweddingshow.com
