Named as one of the top Fourth of July festivals in the country by CNN and USA Today, the festivities will not disappoint. Be proud to be an American as the celebration ends with a not to miss fireworks show. June 28-July 4. Admission, Free. (405) 340-2527 or libertyfest.org

Who’s a Good Boy?

Bring your doggos to see some good ol’ canine competition at the Summer Canine Olympics in Oklahoma City. Watch as a variety of dog breeds go tail to tail in trials of obedience, tricks, scent work, and barn hunting. I’ll Be Your Huckleberry

There won’t be any Tombstone-style western standoffs or sightings of Val Kilmer in all his mustache glory, but Jay’s Huckleberry Festival is sure to celebrate more than just the berry. This old fashioned festival comes complete with carnival rides, a festival parade, and games such as horseshoe pitching, turtle derbies, and bicycle races. Sample the multitude of huckleberry flavored foods or take home your own huckleberry pie at the pie competition and auction. No matter where you’re from, your friends and family are bound to have a “berry” good time. July 1-July 4. Admission, Free. (918) 253-8698

Rock'n Rabbits

Rock out to local and nationally acclaimed musicians at McAlester’s Dancing Rabbit Music Festival. Visitors can stroll through the many food trucks and beer gardens while listening to hoppin’ good music. The event will start with opener musicians who then will be followed by headliners, such as The Band of Heathens. Performing songs from their new album “Stranger,” the tunes will be sure to get all the rabbits dancing in no time. July 3. Admission, Free. (918) 421-8843 or dancingrabbit.live

Going the Distance

Why celebrate the Fourth with fireworks when you can be the watermelon seed-spitting champion? We all know that this is what the founding fathers intended all along, so stop by Pauls Valley and try your hand in the competition at the Watermelon Seed Spittin’ World Championship. Visitors can register in six age-based categories and compete amongst their peers to see who’s best. July 4. Admission, Free. (405) 238-6491 or (405) 805-6159
