Irish Eyes
Those planning to attend Celtic Throne this week should prepare by pre-blinking their eyes for at least a few hours before entering Armstrong Auditorium in Edmond for the show because no one wants to miss even a millisecond of these too-fast-to-believe artists as they explore the ancient origins of Irish step dancing to a musical score by Brian Byrne. June 6. Tickets, $25-$50. armstrongauditorium.org
A is for A Lot Of Fun
Are your kids already bored with all the free time summer allows? Activate them with a visit to the Myriad Botanical Gardens for the Children’s Garden Festival. This year’s theme is “A is for Art” and all the little artists can celebrate with larger-than-life displays and vignettes from classic kids books The Day the Crayons Quit, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Dot, and Aaron Slater, Illustrator, as well as plenty of fun activities that change daily. June 6-12. Admission, $8. myriadgardens.org

Never Too Old To Learn
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Chautauquas were a form of adult education that brought together art, education, entertainment, and more. While they may not be as well known today, the Tulsa Chautauqua at the Tulsa Historical Society & Museum is still going strong. This year’s theme is Surviving the Sixties: Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll and five talented scholars will help bring the subject to life for an entertaining and educational event. June 7-11. Admission, free. tulsachautauqua.org
Gear Up
Fans of motorized vehicular transport will find much to delight the senses at the annual Hogs ‘n’ Hot Rods event in Collinsville. Whether you prefer the two- or four-wheeled variety of conveyance, come show off your pride and joy or just come stare at somebody else’s gorgeous vintage motorbikes, cars, and trucks. There are inflatables to keep the kids entertained and lots of tasty food from vendors when your tank is empty. June 11. Admission, free. facebook.com/hogsnhotrodscville

Those Are Happy Screams
Something magical happens when sugar, dairy, and freezing cold temperatures meet atop a cone. Experience it for yourself at the Chandler Ice Cream Festival, which is held each year in honor of the Hiland Dairy plant. Free ice cream, free carnival rides, and free entertainment from live musicians awaits in Tilghman Park. You think the family screams loud for ice cream? Imagine how loud they’ll be if you miss this.
