Purr-fect Timing

"Roommate wanted: Free rent. Food provided. Haughty attitude a plus." If you're ready to post an ad like this, it's time to check with Oklahoma City Animal Welfare, where June is Adopt a Cat Month. All adoption fees for adult cat adoption are waived and kittens under six months are $30 to adopt. June 1-30. facebook.com

Hochatown Hoedown

For many, summer means the ceaseless playing of good olde country music. If you prefer your boogies to be of the boot-scootin’ variety, pull on your boots and welcome Mike Ryan as he makes his debut at Hochatown Saloon. Dig into a plate of John Wayne Nachos or a classic Oklahoma chicken-fried steak and get rowdy with this Texas-born country star in the making. June 12. Tickets, $21-$42. hochatownsaloon.com/tickets

Wolf in Parrot’s Clothing

Take a break from your regularly scheduled lake weekend and hit the road to Grove for the Toes in the Grand Summer Kick-Off Festival in Wolf Creek Park at Grand Lake. This family friendly Trop Rock event—fans of Jimmy Buffett know it well—includes free concerts, boat races, fireworks, and more. Those comfortable with touching strangers’ hips can even take part in Oklahoma's longest conga line. June 12-14. Admission, Free. groveok.org

Jeepers!

Calling all all-terrain vehicle owners: now is the time to take your rugged vehicle on a trail adventure. Head to Robbers Cave State Park in Wilburton to meet the Lords of Crawl for the Lazy Crazy Hazy Days of Summer Wheeling. This group likes to drive their Jeeps and other all-terrain vehicles across difficult terrains, but don’t worry—this off-road event is perfect for beginners with guided runs in the mornings and free-wheeling time in the afternoons. Contact Lords of Crawl via its Facebook page for more information. June 12-14. Admission, Free. facebook.com

Horsing Around

Did you spend quarantine binging classic Western films? Get out of the recliner and into the saddle with Ranch Ridin’ at Wolf Creek Ranch in Pawhuska.
