Bangers For The Buck

We could all use a little more luck in our lives, right? Beginner’s luck, dumb luck, the luck of the Irish—you can find them all at the eleventh annual Bangers & Mash Lunch in downtown Claremore on Monday, March 17. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Three Twenty On Main, 320 West Will Rogers Boulevard in Claremore, guests can feast on a traditional lunch of bangers (sausages) and mash (potatoes), plus a cookie and a drink, all for $15. Feeling extra lucky? Raffle tickets are on sale for $1 each and there’s even a Pot-o-Gold Giveaway with Green Bucks to be spent like cash at participating downtown retailers. The only kind of luck you won’t find? Tough.
March 17. Tickets, $15.

Sister Sister (Sister)

Spring is in the air and buried in the soil in Sulphur during the Three Sisters Celebration. Named for the ancient art of intercropping beans, squash, and corn together, creating staple foods for the tribe, the celebration includes horticulture tours, gardening demonstrations, and a garden-full of family fun. This free event runs March 18-22 at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, 867 Charles Cooper Memorial Road in Sulphur.
March 18-22. Admission, free.

The Shadow Knows!

Enjoy the whimsical story of an ageless thief who kidnaps a group of children from the safety of their home to pit them against bloodthirsty pirates and a voracious giant crocodile when OKC Broadway Presents: Peter Pan at the Civic Center Music Hall. It, uh, sounds better with music? Peter and Tinkerbell will be flying high on fairy dust from March 18-23 and an updated adaptation by playwright Larissa FastHorse that, one assumes, removes some of the more problematic racial themes that appeared in the classic Disney cartoon version.
March 18-23. Tickets, $29-$141.

Road Not Required

It is by no means a vegetarian-only event, but the annual Big Meat Run in Disney is less about carnivorous dining and more about catching air in ATVs, Jeeps, and other all-terrain vehicles. The name actually refers to the massive “big meat” tires on off-road vehicles that come by the thousands to the town each March. Look forward to heart-pounding races, live music, and a crowd of 10,000 descending on the South Grand Lake Recreation Area, 322 West Main Street in Disney.
March 20-23. Admission, free. Race entry, $50-$100.

So Wrong It’s Right

Ever have one of those days when nothing is going your way? Sucks, right? But watching it happen to other people is downright hilarious, as audience members will see when Tulsa Performing Arts Center Presents: The Play That Goes Wrong. The drama goes flying out the window (as do a few actors) as this delightful farce runs off the rails and over your funny bone. It’s a murder-mystery in which the real question is: How did it go so wrong?
March 20-23. Tickets, $33.25-$51.50.
