Jurassic Zoo
Open daily through until Halloween, Dino Safari at the Oklahoma City Zoo is as close as it gets to the real thing. Boasting fifteen realistic animatronic dinosaurs and eight skeleton replicas this exhibit will let zoo goers experience their favorite prehistoric reptile in action. The animatronics will mimic the sounds and movements of their respective dinosaur while also giving their history and evolution. If you get hungry make sure to stop by the Dino Café by the Pollinator Garden. May 3-October 31. Tickets, $28-$31. (405) 424-3344 or okczoo.org
Not a Drill
You have six chances to catch the Tulsa Drillers vs. Amarillo Sod Poodles this week with a different theme each day, including opening night, discounted drinks, kids eat free, fireworks, and a pullover giveaway. Located in the heart of Tulsa, ONEOK Field is a great spot to kick back with a hot dog, a cool drink, and a battle between a team based on geological exploration and a group of men using an archaic term for prairie dogs as their mascot. Funky Shopping
A new month means a new First Friday is coming to Durant. This month is Jazz Fest! From 2 to 8 p.m., visitors can enjoy live music as they shop throughout downtown Durant. Stores will be having special deals to accommodate the occasion as well, and there will be plenty of food and drinks. Get in on the deals and grooves this Friday at the historic market square. May 7. The Fest Is Yet To Come
One of the biggest festivals in Oklahoma is coming back this May for a weekend packed with the arts and live music. Tulsa International Mayfest brings in more than a quarter-million people each year and the entertainment is non-stop. If you've been looking for a reason to dislodge your seat from the couch cushions, there aren't many better reasons to become ambulatory than spending a weekend seeing what your local artists have to offer. Lucky Rabbit
Head to downtown McAlester for a night of live music, beer gardens, and food trucks this Saturday. Dancing Rabbit Music Festival is spread over three dates this year and features both Oklahoma-based artists as well as nationally known acts. Charlie Parr, a well-known live musician from Minnesota, and Jake Simpson will headline the May 8 show. Be sure to wear your dancing shoes, because this one is set to be lively. May 8.
