Oh, Right, Presents

It is the thought that counts, but what if that thought is, "I can't believe they didn't get me anything this year"? Edmond's Mitch Park hosts Merry Marketplace as part of the Luminance holiday event. Shop from ten local vendor booths, watch as Mitch Park is lit with Christmas lights, and listen to festive music as everyone prematurely gets into the holiday mood. Still, it beats last-minute shopping. November 18. Admission, free. edmondlights.com/events/merry-marketplace

A Fine, Fat Goose

Modern life can be such a drag, right? High-speed Internet, life-saving medications, people who brush their teeth—who needs it?! Okay, maybe all that stuff is actually great, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the old days, too. Take a trip to Claremore for Dickens on the Boulevard and enjoy a Victorian-themed festival with live stage entertainment, pictures with Santa, and a reenactment of the Territorial Marshals, like in those great Victorian-era buddy cop movies. November 18-19. Admission, free. downtownclaremore.org

Cold Blooded

Loosening one's belt at the table is a time-honored tradition among Thanksgiving Day gluttons, but the folks in Yukon are a bit more proactive. With the Chill Your Cheeks 5K Run at Chisholm Trail Park, exercise enthusiasts and lapsed couch potatoes alike can make room for the coming feast with a scant jog of 196,850 inches, 16,404.2 feet, or 5,468.07 yards, for those who prefer Imperial units for measurement. November 19. Registration, $25-$40. yukonok.gov

A Not Terribly Friendly Rivalry

College football conferences changes have put the future of Bedlam in question, but fans of Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma will gather in Norman to put one more cross-state battle into the record books. The Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium are certainly sold out, but there's almost certainly a restaurant, bar, or living room nearby that is showing the game. November 19. For Kids Who Are Adults

Growing up is for babies. For those who just aren't ready to let go of childish things and are, in fact, actively looking for more childish things, there's no better destination than Tulsa Expo Square for Retromania. This two-day event is the place to find that Star Wars action figure your brother threw out the window of the car on a trip to grandma's a few decades ago. Toys, games, comics, art, and more are waiting to tickle someone's nostalgia for years to come. November 19-20. Admission, $8-$20. heritageeventcompany.com
