Hello Good Bison
Bison once roamed North America by the millions before U.S. Government policy nearly wiped them all out. Thankfully, a few forward-thinking souls put their all into preserving the species and the perfect time to celebrate them is during the Old West Buffalo Days Festival at Pawhuska's Old West Buffalo Company. Friday night the dinner theater includes a catered meal, stories of the American bison, a chance to feed some of the majestic beasts by hand, and a campfire with a Theodore Roosevelt reenactor. On Saturday there's an 1800s festival with Native American and Western storytelling, a buffalo chip throwing contest, and free samples at the buffalo chili cook-off. November 4-5. Tickets, $24-$59.90. oldwestbuffalo.com
Pardners and Pies
Chaps and cherry. Lassoes and lingonberries. Ropin', ridin', and raspberry tarts. Get your fill of Old West fun and a sweet slice of heaven at Cowboys and Pies at Central High Community Center in Marlow. Soak up the stories when cowboy musicians and poets come to perform and get those bidding hands ready during the Best Pie Auction. It's a full day of fun and fruit filling. November 5. Admission, free. facebook.com

Hot and STEAM-y
It doesn't make any sense that simply slapping "-gate" on the end of a word makes it a scandal. But on the flip side, adding "-palooza" at the end of any word means it's about to be a good time, like at the Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma's Geekapalooza: STEAM Festival for Kids. Children ages 4-14 are welcome to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math with robotics demonstrations, coding, the science of flight, and more. November 5. Tickets, $5-$8. gswestok.doubleknot.com
John Beere
Germany is approximately 5,000 miles away from Oklahoma, which is a heck of a hike, so those looking to do it up Deutschland-style can simply head to Helena for the Timberlake Oktoberfest and Tractor Pull. Main Street is the place to find an Oktoberfest parade, the titular tractor pull, a bake sale featuring strudel, and plenty of sauerkraut and brats. November 5. Admission, free. facebook.com

Silly Stories
Therapy is a great way for one to mine their personal history for traumas that are still affecting them. But if that sounds too hard, why not grab a ticket to KGOU Presents: An Afternoon with David Sedaris at the Hudiburg Chevrolet Center in Midwest City's Rose State College? Beloved chronicler of his own cringe-inducing past Sedaris brings a brand-new batch of side-splitting tales and lays them out for the audience to gasp, guffaw, and groan at. November 6. Tickets, $55-$66. okcciviccenter.com
