2021 is an endangered species with only three days left until it's gone for good. It was in 1973 that President Richard Nixon signed into law the Endangered Species Act, though conservation efforts in the U.S. actually began in the early 1900s. Oklahoma, being a haven for many different species, is no stranger to animals in peril. Of the ten species on the Federally Endangered list that live in Oklahoma, four are mussels.
