Bad blood between Texas and Oklahoma is nothing new, thanks in part to decades of dominant University of Oklahoma football teams, but it runs a bit deeper than that. In 1931 the states went to "war" with one another over a pair of bridges crossing the Red River. On July 17, Gov. William "Alfalfa Bill" Murray ordered a new, free bridge open with the understanding that Oklahoma owned both sides of the river based on a treaty from more than a century before, setting off the bloodless battle between the states. It was resolved a few months later.
What was the name of the treaty Gov. Murray referenced when he ordered the bridge to be opened?
