These nocturnal creatures with a penchant for playing dead inspired the team name in a 1998 movie filmed in northeastern Oklahoma.
Though it is more than 1,200 miles away from Los Angeles, this northeastern Oklahoma city is no stranger to the movies. A 1998 motion picture about an imaginary high school football team was filmed here, though the team’s name was changed from the more impressive sounding Ironmen to the Possums.
