Do you ever wonder where our cities and towns get their names? This Great Plains Country city has a sky-high moniker despite being a distant five hours drive from (and more than three thousand feet lower than) the highest elevation in the state. The name came about when the original town, nearly wiped out by a flood, moved to higher ground in the 1890s.
