It’s that time of year again when a stormy sky could portend a gentle rain or a volley of ice balls the size of plums. Watching the weather is always a bit of an Oklahoma pastime, but it certainly ramps up come spring when funnels of destruction are known to roam the prairies. One such windy wanderer found its way to Tinker Air Force Base on March 25, 1948, causing $6 million of damage and some injuries, but no fatalities. The lack of death is attributed to two men who correctly predicted that atmospheric conditions were ripe for a tornado—considered by many to be the first tornado forecast.

Who were the people who correctly predicted a tornado would hit Tinker Air Force Base on March 25, 1948?
