Oklahoma has its fair share of celebrities. We have plenty of sports stars and country music artists, of course, but don’t sleep on our talented acting community. One of the brightest shining stars in our firmament was Norman native and University of Oklahoma alum James Garner. In fact, take a trip to Norman if you want to see a gorgeous statue of the famed thespian. His TV roles became, at least for later generations, his greatest accomplishments—playing Bret Maverick in “Maverick” and Jim Rockford in “The Rockford Files”—but he was also an accomplished film actor.
