Even the best neighbors have their issues. Parties get too loud, too late. Leaves from their trees go blowing into each other's yards. The U.S. Supreme Court rules that a county created by their legislature actually belongs to the guy just north. Well, that last one is a bit of an isolated incident, but it definitely happened in 1896, when Greer County—created by Texas in 1860—was ruled to be part of the United Stated of America by the Supreme Court, which then tacked it onto Oklahoma Territory.
About a decade later, when Oklahoma and Indian territories were combined as the forty-sixth state in the union, what had been Greer County became four separate counties in Oklahoma.
