The much anticipated release of Killers of the Flower Moon, the new film by legendary director Martin Scorsese shot primarily in Osage County, debuts in theaters this Friday, finally revealing the big-screen adaptation of David Grann’s 2017 nonfiction bestseller to the public's eyes.
Killers might be setting a new bar for epic film production in Oklahoma, but the Sooner State already boasts a formidable film résumé for locations outside of Hollywood. Several movies with filming locations in the state have gone on to be nominated and win Academy Awards. Most recently, Youn Yuh-jung won Best Supporting Actress in 2021 for her role in Minari, shot in and around the Tulsa area.
