Did you know that the Green Corn Rebellion could just as easily have been called the Barbecued Beef Rebellion? When hundreds of Oklahoma men gathered in Sasakwa to march on Washington D.C. in an attempt to end the U.S. involvement in the first World War, their plan was to sustain themselves on barbecued beef and roasted green corn. Along the way, the men burned bridges and cut telegraph lines, but they didn’t make it anywhere near D.C. as posses popped up to oppose them before they could reach Missouri.
On whose farm did the members of the Green Corn Rebellion meet before their ill-fated march on Washington?
