This week we're partnering with the Oklahoma City Zoo & Botanical Garden for a special giveaway: two tickets to this Friday's Haunt the Zoo: All Grown Up event. It's all the Haunt the Zoo fun Oklahoma City's former youths remember from childhood, but this time with a 21+ crowd, craft brews, food trucks, live music, and more. The event is from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, October 27. If you're not lucky enough to be this week's winner, tickets can be purchased at okczoo.org.
In honor of this giveaway, let's get wild about zoo history. The Oklahoma City Zoo pre-dates statehood, having first been founded in 1904 with an original location in Wheeler Park. Within the zoo's first five years, its animal collection had grown to 125 animals. These days, the zoo is home to more than a thousand total specimens representing 324 total species. All those animals got us thinking:
What was the first animal to ever be acquired by the Oklahoma City Zoo?
